Transform your smile with dental veneers

Having an impaired smile can be devastating to the self esteem. Being self conscious about your smile can be isolating because you would rather hide than show anyone your less than perfect smile. It may be difficult to find the courage to approach someone new or to apply for a job for fear of having to speak to someone and show your teeth. This type of behavior is not healthy and can begin to diminish your quality of life. Instead of isolating yourself because you are embarrassed about your smile, do something about it. There are many solutions available today that can improve your smile and still fit inside of your budget. Depending on the complexity of your problem, you may just need a little freshening up. Teeth whitening is a great way to quickly improve the appearance of your teeth and give you a boost of confidence. This is a great solution if you are attending an event and would like to take years off of your smile. If you have some cracks or chips in your teeth, there is a bonding material similar to the composition of your teeth that can be used to fill those in. However, if your entire mouth could use a facelift, perhaps you should consider dental veneers.

Veneers are really popular because they can dramatically improve the appearance of your smile. Friends and family may not even recognize you after your treatment. There are a couple of different options when it comes to veneers. Dental veneers are essentially super thin layers that are fused to the facade of your teeth. One of the biggest advantages of veneers is that they are resistant to staining. If you have permanently stained teeth that occurred after taking certain medications, veneers would be a great solution. Another great advantage is that dental veneers can be used to mimic orthodontic procedures by appearing to straighten crooked or misaligned teeth.

There are two types of dental veneers on the market today. One of the most traditional veneers that you may have heard of are made out of porcelain. Porcelain veneers are durable, stain resistant and non invasive to other teeth. They are stain resistant because they are non porous and provide a protective barrier against stains. Although porcelain veneer are really thin, they are still thick enough to require the removal of a thin layer of the surface of your teeth. This is to help accommodate the additional thickness. Unlike a traditional porcelain crown that encompasses the entire tooth, a porcelain veneer only covers the front of the tooth which means that less of the original tooth is lost during the procedure.

Lumineers, a brand of dental veneers, are on the rise, and so you may have heard about them already. Even though they are also made of porcelain, Lumineers are a bit different than traditional veneers as they do not require removing any portion of the original teeth. That means a less invasive procedure with many of the same results.
